Training in Preventive MedicineThree years of residency training are required for eligibility to sit for the certification examinations in Preventive Medicine. There are currently over 70 programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Training is conducted under a set of approved Program Requirements. Board Exam Preparation CoursesThe American Board of Preventive Medicine does not offer or endorse any review courses to prepare for its certifying examinations. Courses are offered by the following specialty societies and information about their courses can be obtained from their offices or web sites. American College of Preventive Medicine Review Course American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine Courses Course Listings Notice from the AMAThe American Medical Association (AMA) allows credit toward the Physician Recognition Award (PRA) for successful completion of Board certification or maintenance of certification. Information about claiming this credit may be found in the Physician's Recognition Award and credit system brochure. Twenty-five Category 1 Credits are awarded.
